Description

Book: 'Almost Unknown. The Story of Squadron Leader Tony Gaze OAM DFC. Australian Spitfire Ace and racing driver' by Stewart Wilson. Australian by birth, Gaze is credited with persuading Lord March to create the Goodwood racing circuit out of the airfield perimeter track in 1947, having flown out of that airfield (known as RAF Westhampnett) during the war. Gaze owned and raced several Aston Martins, incluing LM7 during the war. He raced the Kangaroo stable DB3S and famously crashed it in Portugal in 1963, writing off the car but fortunately not himself.
