Lapel pin with 'Aston Martin' on a ribbon around pre-war grille, dated c.1948-1950.
Description
Lapel pin with 'Aston Martin' on a ribbon around pre-war grille. This is based on an emblem of the pre-war company. Made by Thomas Fattorini ltd. Birmingham.
In sleeve with badge is the correspondence from a Mrs Alma Olive, who gave the item. Mostly contains her vague memories of Dudley Coram and helping at a few Club (AMOC) events.
Alan Archer, in his article on "Our Colourful Badges" - AM36.154, pp.31-33 - describes this as "almost certainly the first post-war Club badge (diameter 9mm) issued as a stopgap". A black and white photo of the badge appears on p.31 of the article. A very similar badge but with an extra base stating 'National Service', was issued to Works staff during the war. this is also illustrated on page 31 of the article.
