A large black and white photograph of the Nimrod car racing a Nimrod aircraft. The event took place on 28 November 1982 at RAF St. Mawgan, Cornwall. Tiff Needell and Bob Evans were the car drivers. Flt. Lt. Steve Smith was in charge of the aircraft.
In very wet conditions, the two raced from a standing start over approximately half a mile. The car achieved times of 21.8 secs and 22.6 secs, reaching about 160mph by the finish. The aircraft was timed at 25.6 secs and 23 secs, giving victory to the car!
The photograph is likely taken at the end of the race as the aircraft is taking off.
